How it Works
1. Choose a board
Select from our demo fleet (shortboards, mids, longboards).
2. Ride it
Rent for 3 days or a full week. Surf it in real conditions.
3. Credit accumulates
Your rental fee becomes store credit toward a new Swellcycle board.
4. Own the board that suits you
Apply your credits when you order — credits stack if you try multiple boards.
FAQs
Board pick-up and drop-off
Board pickup and drop-off take place at our shop in the Old Wrigley Building, on the west side of Santa Cruz.
Address:
2801 Mission St
Santa Cruz, CA 95060
United States
Pickup and return are available during shop hours, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
If you need to pick up or return a board outside of business hours, we offer a secure locker. We’ll provide you with the access code ahead of time.
Our boards are built to be durable, but if a board is damaged during your rental, please let us know when you return it. Normal wear and minor dings are part of the process and usually aren’t an issue.
If there is significant damage that affects the structural integrity of the board, we’ll assess it together and, if needed, charge a fair repair fee based on the extent of the damage ($40 - $250).
Yes — depending on availability.
If you’d like to switch to a different demo board during your rental, we’re happy to help when possible. A $20 board-switch fee applies to cover inspection, cleaning, and re-setup of the demo board.
Board switches are subject to availability and must take place during shop hours.
Can I extend my rental?
Yes — depending on availability.
If you’re on a 3-day rental, you can upgrade to a full week during your rental period, as long as the board is still available for the remaining days.
In that case, we’ll send an invoice for the remaining balance of $90 (bringing the total to the weekly rental rate).
You can view your rental credits by logging into your Swellcycle account. Once logged in, your available credits will appear in your account and will automatically apply at checkout when you’re ready to order a new board.
Yes. Rental credits are cumulative. If you rent more than once, each rental fee is added to your store credit and can be applied toward the purchase of a new board.
This lets you try different shapes and designs while getting closer to your future board with every session.
