Learn the origins and history of surfboard shaping, along with the story and technique behind 3D-printed surfboards. Then dive into the basics of surfboard anatomy before to get your hands on Shape3D's interface and learn about views, tangents and control points.
Class 2
Learn about fin setups (Thruster, Quad, Twin, Single) and how to adjust your board’s size, proportions, and foil by working with control points, slices, and curve handles. Create a single-to-double concave and learn about fin placement.
Class 3
In this final session,we will spot and fix common beginner mistakes, clean up your design, and prepare your board for 3D printing. We'll cover checking foil consistency, simplifying structure, and exporting for a scaled prototype.

Mike Wallace is the shaper of Iconoclast Custom Surfboards. I am so glad I took this class. I am a beginner-intermediate surfer and did not have much knowledge about shaping before taking the class. This class gave me enough knowledge and tools to design my first board with Swellcycle. I made a longboard (9'0") which I absolutely love and take out at every session. What a magical experience to create my own board.

Pol was able to demonstrate everything very well. He answered questions promptly and had a workaround or an idea of how to accomplish what the student was after. I took this class to use the knowledge and apply it to my surfboard manufacturing business. I came away with a basic understanding of navigation and the core principles in designing a board. One thing to be aware of: I wasn't able to perform some aspects because I needed Design Pro — I wasn't aware how significant the difference was between Design and Design Pro.
Excellent course! I found Shape3d to be too intimidating on my own, but Pol makes it really approachable. So psyched on my custom shape!
Pol was a great teacher and helped me design a sick personalized board. I quickly learned the basics of the shape 3d software Pol was helpful by explaining how modifications in the shape translate to performance in the water. I can’t wait to get this board printed and in the water!!!
