At swellcycle, our mission extends beyond crafting surfboards. It's about pioneering a sustainable future where surfing harmonizes with environmental responsibility. Our “Circular by Design” approach is anchored in three interconnected ecosystems, each playing a crucial role in our commitment to sustainability.
Pioneering with Recycled Resources
Our journey in sustainability begins with exploring high-quality recycled materials sourced from external partners. This initial step is crucial in setting the foundation for our eco-friendly surfboards.
Plastic waste is an ongoing issue that at times can seem too overwhelming to solve. But that’s where we come in. Our collaborations with companies like Reflow, which transforms hospital trays waste into filament, and Entropy Resins, who continue to refine their bio-based epoxy, grant us the opportunity to recreate products that traditionally pollute the planet into ones that will help clean it back up.

Creating New from Old
We drew inspiration from our eco-heroes, Precious Plastic, to initiate projects such as bringing surfed-out boards back into the lineup as fresh gear. How are we doing that? By breaking down those old boards into filament material that can be reprinted into our new shapes, keeping true to our circular philosophy.
Another part of our upcycling journey is taking those broken down boards and casting a bit of injection-molding wizardry to create our very own fins!
We're in the workshop, innovating with what we've got. We repurpose broken surfboards by grinding them down and transforming them through injection molding into surf fins. It's our way of turning potential waste into valuable treasures.
These are just a few of our innovative concepts brewing up in the Swellcycle lab. With creative thinking and technological advancements, we can demonstrate the reality of transforming what was once considered waste into valuable, functional products.
