Commitment to Circularity
At SwellCycle, our approach to sustainability is simple: keep materials in play, and keep waste out of our oceans. We use 100% recycled plastics to craft our boards, giving new life to what was once discarded. Our circular process makes it easy for shapers and surfers to return used boards, so they can be broken down and reborn into something new. This is more than recycling—it's about creating a continuous cycle where nothing is wasted, and every material has a purpose. We're committed to reducing our footprint and protecting the places we love to ride.
less is more
Traditional surfboard production using subtractive manufacturing methods generates up to 40% material waste—foam scraps, excess resin, and offcuts that end up in landfills or the ocean. This wasteful process is harming our environment, and we believe there's a better way. Our 3D printing technology changes the game by using only the material needed, eliminating the excess and drastically reducing waste. We use only what's needed, leaving behind zero excess. This means less waste, lower impact, and boards that are built to perform. By printing each board layer by layer, we have the flexibility to optimize for strength, weight, and durability—all while reducing our impact on the planet. It's about building better boards with a better process.
Future Materials
We believe the future of surfboard manufacturing is in natural and recycled materials that work with, not against, the environment. We're exploring fibers like hemp and flax basalt, and finding ways to reuse plastics from sources like discarded fishing lines. Our goal is to move away from harmful materials and embrace options that are both high-performance and eco-friendly. This journey is about more than just making boards—it's about rethinking every component to protect the oceans we depend on. The future is in our hands, and we're committed to making sure it's a sustainable one.
