About Mando Surf Co.
Mando started shaping boards in Monterey, simply because they love surfing. It soon grew into something bigger than themselves.
Mando Surf Co. was then born out of a desire to shift the surf industry toward something more inclusive, creative, and community-driven.
What began as a few boards made for friends has since grown into a full-fledged shaping operation focused on creating spaces, collaborating on board designs, and making things that float.
Mando Surf Co. makes a toy from foam and resin. Whenever we feel ourselves taking our designs too seriously we think back to that. We of course are making the highest quality product that surfs amazing, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously.
We design boards from shortboards, to fishes, to mid lengths, and logs.
No matter where someone is at in their surfing journey, we have a board that is sure to fit them and be in the quiver for a long, long time.
Despite what the industry may have you believe, building surfboards is a team sport. Mando Surf Co is made up of 2 shapers: Mando LeVett and Burke Boynton. 2 brains are better than 1.
We now have our very own shaping facility, Hot Dog Glassing, where we glass all our boards and some other rad board shapers. No board-building company can do this without all the badasses behind the scenes.
We work closely with a lot of our customers to get them on the board they need/want.
We have a wide variety of models to choose from.
We can tweak certain dimensions of the boards to ensure that our customers are still getting the perfect board for their style, ability, and waves they surf.
Why they use our tech
We are entering a time where surfers and board builders alike are thinking about the environment first. There are new technologies like 3D printing and use of Flax fiber that make a board more sustainable.
It will take some time for the whole industry to follow suit, but hopefully, there is a time where eco-friendly boards are the norm.
