The Downrail is a modern revival of Ventana’s iconic wooden Downrail design, blending classic Santa Cruz craftsmanship with Swellcycle’s plant-based 3D-printed core technology. Built as a fast, smooth single fin, this board carries effortless glide down the line while still offering the drive and control needed for long, soulful turns.

The refined down-rail geometry, moderate entry rocker, balanced volume distribution, and squash tail make it easy to paddle, stable underfoot, and responsive through rail-to-rail transitions. It’s a great choice for surfers looking for a board that can trim with flow, accelerate off the tail, and hold confidently in anything from mellow waves to more powerful surf.

This board is a piece that honors surf history while pushing board construction forward. With reclaimed wood, flax cloth, bio-based epoxy, and a plant-based core, the Downrail connects performance, craft, and sustainability in every ride.

The reclaimed wood featured on the board pictured comes from old-growth redwood salvaged from a Martini & Pratti red wine tank built in the 1950s, and Alaskan Yellow Cedar offcuts from the legendary Western Flyer boat rebuild. Through Ventana, we offer a range of reclaimed wood options, allowing each board to carry its own unique material story.

Laminated with Epoxy Resin* over flax fiber cloth made from the flaxseed plant, for strength and eco-friendly aesthetics.

Built to order. Please allow 3–6 weeks for production.

Shipping & Pickup:

After production, your board will be ready for local pickup or shipped via UPS, depending on your selection at checkout.

We use the S3 Pro System by A New Earth Project — a sustainable, impact-resistant, curbside recyclable surfboard packaging system.

We currently ship within the U.S.
For international delivery, select pickup at checkout and we will invoice shipping separately.
